No not at all, but for some reason Ford shows the current world/global market truck on the backdrop videos when discussing the future redesigned Ranger. It might be fair to say that there will be a resemblance, or one could think it's a purposeful misdirection.

Mr. Andrew P. Collins opinion on Monday ( not mine):

If the Bronco does become a U.S.-market version of the Everest, it will probably not look like the SUV that’s currently on sale internationally.

We used to get sneak peaks long before production, but with the length of design shrinking so does our peak into the future get compressed.
I think it's fair to say looking at the current Mustang that the 2020 Bronco will not be as Retro as the 2005 Mustang was. However, I see no point in slipping a model in between the Escape and Explorer ( which are also 4-doors). A retro 2-door is the only thing which makes sense to me, yet the direction or misdirection by Ford would have you thinking otherwise.
In 2016 the Toyota FJ Cruiser world production was stopped. Perhaps Ford is just trying to throw Toyota off track?

On October 10, 2016, Toyota filed for a trademark on the name "Toyota FT-4X." This trademark was first discovered by AutoGuide, and as they point out, this could be an indication of a future off-road-oriented concept vehicle. Could it be a successor to the FJ Cruiser?
