The late John Dixon had that made. I think it is still in his museum in Dayton.

Great to see a car being used like this. It's probably being stored somewhere now. :(

Most likely the same one in the Simeone collection.

I'll bet this is when Barris bought it. Half-finished custom car behind it is a clue that this might be the parking lot at Barris' shop.

Two of my all time favorite cars, ironic that they are polar opposite.

Some day I would love to own a replica of either of these (no way I could afford an original)

Actually the Futura sat in an open parking lot across the street from Barris' shop, corner of Lankershim and Riverside Drive. There was some sort of closed up dealership on that corner, and George parked a bunch of cars out there

For at least the first episode, when it aired, the car was towed on a chain through the scenes. The old power train had not run in years.
I used to stop in a couple days a week on my walk home from school. And saw the evolution into the Batmobile

thanks: No Man's Land- the movie where we called our clients and paid them to have their cars at the shop !
The light blue metallic cabs (two in case one broke down) and the turbo came from a shop in the Redondo Beach area. The black targa "stolen" and repainted red, was actually a black targa repainted red in a couple days for the movie.

It was a tiring, but fun week for us. Charlie was very professional at that time (no funny stuff yet) and it was shortly after his big hit in Platoon. Since they shot between Xmas and New Years, it was a great $ for us too :D

All six Daytona's including this one were at the Goodwood Revival two years ago. All did demonstration laps together.

It's good to see it hasn't been over restored.

Back dated 997!
