My cousin had a DS21, what a luxury ride...

My great-great grandpa worked on the construction of that bridge shortly after immigrating from Italy. My great grandpa was roadmaster for Northern Pacific between Sandpoint and Spokane, including that bridge. My grandpa grew up in a house just left of the frame of view and was a Spokane division and later system civil engineer for BN. My dad replaced rail across that bridge working summers for BN. The truss section used to rotate 90 degrees for tall vessels and was manually operated by a section gang powered crank.

This photo by Russell Lee was taken in Harlingen, Texas in 1939. Was it common for a gasoline dealer to dispense two different brands? In this case Texaco and Shell.
