Unmasking The Bullet-Shaped Mystery Aircraft After It Reemerges At Victorville - The Drive

https://www.avweb.com/avwebflash/news/Victorville-Mystery-Aircraft-Details-Emerge-229148-1.html

Quote:
One of the patents, for a combined turbocharger and “supplemental thrust device,” describes the purpose of the patent as enabling a new class of aircraft to compete with hub-and-spoke commercial air travel: “To be a viable competitor, the system should have true origin to true destination speeds that significantly exceed current system speeds. It should require no additional infrastructure, and it should package passengers in small enough units that both the passenger load and the aircraft are militarily insignificant targets. To be truly competitive, it should provide non-stop transcontinental and intercontinental travel from any local airport to any other local airport. And ticket prices should be highly competitive with current average ticket prices.”

Quote:
We at The War Zone have been keeping a close eye on a small but potentially growing niche market for manned high-altitude intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance aircraft, some of which are derived from powered glider-type planes. Now a new entrant into this field, so far known only as the H03, from Northrop Grumman has emerged outside the company’s hangar at the Mojave Air and Space Port in California.

If you are talking about the salute to Rutan site pictures I posted a link to, I'm thinking of removing the link - it may be hostile.

Many of the same photos on a Rutan featured Facebook page.

Scaled Composites Long-EZ "Borealis"
https://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/Visit/Museum-Exhibits/Fact-Sheets/Display/Article/195765/scaled-composites-long-ez-borealis/

Quote:
In January 2008, this modified Scaled Composites Long-EZ completed the first manned flight of an aircraft powered by a pulsed detonation engine (PDE). The flight was the result of a five-year cooperative effort between the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and Innovative Scientific Solutions Incorporated (ISSI). The project used the popular homebuilt Long-EZ designed by Burt Rutan as a platform.

Engines normally burn fuel and air at subsonic speeds to provide propulsion. Pulsed detonation engines detonate the fuel-air mixture to produce repeated, controlled explosions. The resulting supersonic shockwaves create thrust. ........
