As the humidity often drops to near zero this is a dangerous time for wild fires, and any empty big rigs are especially vulnerable to the gusts.

This guy got away pretty lucky. The gust knocked him from east to west, and absent the guardrail he'd have been toast...

Way back in 1927!

Banville's symbol race where several thousand people in Paris went racing in a new and gigantic garage in the neighborhood, eight floors high and three or four floors below ground, all accessed by ramps.

Spectators hung out in the turns and at each landing, and also on the steps of the stairs and in the offices that give it an elegant feel of a major sporting event.

At the top, in a spacious tennis court were tables of cakes, small ovens, and champagne were waiting for guests................

..........included motorcycles, cyclecars, racing cars and Bugatti, Delage, Amilcar, Seneschal, Talbot, Peugeot, etc.,.............

It ended, without incident or accident.

No, that one's the 15 to the 10, but I'm impressed nonetheless.

Random:

In Pasadena last Sunday for lunch. BITD these "Cal Look" bugs where everywhere in So Cal - not anymore.

P.S. it sounded even better than it looked!

My first car was a 65 bug, got it when I was 15 for $50.
It has a fresh rebuild 1500 cc engine but the owner could never get it running right.
That's cause the cam timing was off a tooth or two when it was assembled.
It took me a couple weeks to nail it down, but for under $100 I had a driving bug with a rebuilt engine.
It ended up as a cal-look but with an 1835, dual 40 webers, and ran low 14's at the bug in.
back then it was common to ditch the bumpers completely and replace them with nerf bars (like the one in the pic, not my car), mostly because we couldn't afford straight bumpers.

it looked kinda like this with the trim delete and one piece door windows but mine had centerlines and was painted ford grabber blue. Did it in ROP body-shop class in high school, first car I ever painted (regional occupational program).
