http://www.ormistonhighlands.com/news.h2.jpg We were just the other day talking on a UK farming forum about this vehicle, a member was giving us its history....We bought it from Lord Arthur Rank who used it on his grouse moor near Nairn. Each year it was put back on its road wheels for his keeper to use on the road too. Our family used it mostly for deer stalking and had 19 red deer hinds in it one day !! It also famously rescued a team of Hydro Electric Linesmen last in a blizzard on the Corrieyarrick Pass. It was great for crossing peat bogs and could climb like a mountain goat. |

The Vampire
Hey Paul & Porsche930dude
Thanks for the pics of the rather unique DeHavilland Vampire. Interesting to note; 2 different configurations, both with the Swiss Air Force Insignia. However the one on static display seems to have an American civilian registration number on the starboard tail-boom. This is a very good thread & many thanks to all who've contributed. Cheers & Happy New Year JB |
