Obviously replicas have been in production for a long time so what did SEMA "win" with getting this passed?

Not the same - I know, but neither are the modern ICE. |

Since in the US, unlike Europe(I can't even change my ride height or install spacers unless there's a homologation cert for it).. it's perfectly fine for an owner to replace the power plant as he sees fit.. The logical solution, That I, as a Belgian(were finding loopholes to exploit is a national sport) can instantly suggest. Would be that these customer low volume manufacturers simply come up with a teeny weeny little crate engine that has exact same bolt on pattern and wiring harnass as say yer huge big power LS1 or whatever popular crate engine out there. Sell the bastard with that 200 cc , near zero emissiions little moped motor.. Next sell the customer his Big power engine on a seperate invoice (or even better by a seperate company/legal entity (you own), with free installation included. How long should an engine swap last if it's all properly prepared?? 1 hour?? once done, swap company sells moped engines back to Chassis company Le done. SmileWavy Note.. it is imperative that nobody cuts any corners here.. The moped engine really has to be installed The chassis has to be delivered TO the end customer in that state And the end customer then has to drive it to the swap place Note 2 .. IF there is legislation that no company can do the swaps, and only the actual car owner can do that. fine.. Offer consulting services to do the swap at customer Then you have chassis company crate engine company consulting company which really is a mechanic with an engine hoist and enough 10mm sockets to get something done on somebodies drive way. There is NO law possible to prevent that from happening as it's simply labor and knowledge, you cannot ban that The "consultant" can do most of the work, let the owner lower the hoist in the engine bay and tighten a couple of bolts.. (make it ceremonious and they might even think it's cool) The only way they could ever prevent it, is with a homologation requirement , where all cars through out useful life must adhere too Which will NEVER get through the legislative branch in the US.. I know how you guys work, they will never get that because it would be a considered the equivalent of communist freedom theft. No sane US politician would dare to even consider it. |

Love the 70's show circuit hot rods. At some point I've seen all of them in person, including building models from Revell kits. Very few of them could actually be driven down the road, but that wasn't the point.
