I have read stories that some of the old NASCAR builders would use cars that had burned because they found them lighter than cars they had to strip.

Not sure how that car burned that bad without discoloring the house.

I think they're trying to appeal to the American fans who are already familiar with dirt track racing. Who knows, if they can't get the "Circuit of the Americas" track done in time they might just throw in a dirt race in the championship

It's a maple seed concept, here are some videos on similar contraptions now being called monocopters.

Rather ungainly, but they do seem to work in an odd fashion.

Why the guys in 1915 tried to start off of water is puzzling. The instability of a mono hull combined with creating a hole in the water from the air jet could only end in having a bad day out at the lake.

It really was a beautiful machine in it's own way.
