Ok - do we know the story behind this?

As a typical gearhead, I have always loved these cars (and esp. the 300SLR) but I know little of the details.

So far I think it has been suggested that this one is unique - alloy body, concave star and square washer bottle. Can you elaborate on what's important about those and how you can tell.

And was this owner a computer geek?
