Well seeing as how most of the cars in north africa are half a car cobbled together by bushmen. I think its plausible . Since it was his working car he likely had some tools. and with the help of locals im sure something like that could be built with a bit of effort. That being said i dont know the mechanics of a 2cv so its hard to say weather its possible or not.

That trabant was an intresting car. made in east germany in 69 . the guy claimed in 79 or 69 they sold for over 7 grand over there. Most of the body was made from a paper based resin fiberglass kind of material. 2 stroke 2cyl the thing smoked like a chimeny. A true Borat car if I ever saw one. He traded about 500$ worth of furniture for it!

my friend's "new" 47 plymouth ambulance/hearse found in a barn sitting for 15 years. bought for $400. and he picked up this running 427 also
