gas station of the future!

http://www.tankpitstop.com/index.php?pid=6

I wonder how this would work if someone pulled up on the wrong side!

TheMentat 02-09-2008 09:54 AM

its hard to imagine thst thing being cost effective compared to a gas jockey... its painfully slow too!

stomachmonkey 02-09-2008 09:54 AM

Looks like an example of just because you can does not mean you should.

Cheaper to go self serve v installing a complicated mechanism that will surely require maintenance.

bigchillcar 02-09-2008 09:59 AM

impressive machine, no doubt...but it's like someone spent millions to build a device to break open a peanut.. :D

RickM 02-09-2008 09:59 AM

Perhaps makes sense in remote areas. I'd like to see it work with a modified car....how about a hood mounted gas inlet on a 911.

HardDrive 02-09-2008 10:00 AM

I thought this was the gas station of the future.....

What a waste.

I have had to refuel in howling winds in the winter but really how lazy can you get?

Shaun @ Tru6 02-09-2008 10:41 AM

They're also developing a Trunk Monkey version.

stupid, won't fly.
If anything we need FASTER service at the pump.
I find myself allowing 15 minutes to fuel up now.

Faster 'dump it in' technology please!

That's one of the advantages to having my own little "gas station" in the garage... I can fill up in 5-10 minutes, before leaving for work. The tank for my e300d will be big enough to do about 700 miles.

DanielDudley 02-09-2008 05:46 PM

Very, um articulate. Yeah, Yeah, That's the ticket !

red-beard 02-10-2008 05:20 AM

Why on earth would they keep the fuel filler nozzle and hose the same as a human filled one? Stupid waste of technology.

Sunroof 02-11-2008 04:32 AM

Yeah, but, nothin beats the smell of benzene in the morning!! A Homo Sapien, could have gassed two cars in the time it took this machine to open the gas door, pull the cap, and insert the nozzle.

What is the point of making this?? Its not like people are having water fights at the pump with premium fuel.

alf 02-11-2008 08:22 AM

I like the music, reminds me of 80s porn flicks. I wonder if the arm could do other things :)
