Odd duck here. Have been with Brinks for 17 yrs. I like the control console more than ADTs but the service is the same and fee is $28/mo. I've tripped it a couple of times by accident and I got a call back immediately and the local cops was here is 2 mins or less.

Be choosey when selecting a monitored alarm company. After 1 false alarm, the police department will start charging you for the visit.

I believe that ADT has the lowest false alarm rate (so they say)!

You'll have issues with any of them. Sign up, you get the ins discount & the stickers & signs. When the contract runs out, let it go. You keep the system, the ins discount AND the stickers & signs. If somebody breaks in, the horn will scare & more than anything else.

Interesting thread, our recently purchased house has a previously installed system by a local company. Not currently hooked up to anyone, probably couldn't do it at the moment due to our VoIP phone system. We haven't taken the time to figure it out, but do like the beep when the doors open. That way we know our 3 year old has taken it upon himself to go play outside.:)

Been thinking about this if ADT doesn't do something for me...

Brinks doesn't charge at all for multiple false alarms, and neither have my local cops. The big reason I went brinks was the control panels, they one outstanding feature a "cancel" button that you can use. My Monitoring 29/mo and the system install was around $300 which was due to the fact that I didn't want wireless.

Anybody have one with the keyless arm/disarm? A former co-worker of mine had a system with a remote, they would arm/disarm from the garage as they left or came home. It sounded ultra convenient, with no stupid codes to worry about.

I do, it was $100 extra if I recall, I have the key fob, and both of our Audi's have the homelink option which also integrates into the system.

That works with Homelink? Our Cadillac has it, that would be nice..

Yea, the audi guy set it up, guess I'm a dunce, he said it was a rolling code remote, so he had to do it a few times, but he got it.
