chevy th350 kickdown cable Daytona 500 fans

I know this is an odd topic even for Off Topic.

A friend has a th350 in a 68 chevelle. Not sure if the tranny is like the engine and is a 1973.

Where on gods green earth does the kick down cable attach to?(and i dont mean on the carb.)

does anyone have a good picture???? maybe can point with an arrow???

some one watching nascar should know this.

Which end? The carb end or the tranny end? The carb end just hooks to the throttle linkage. Full throttle should be where the cable is fully extended. Any auto parts store should have universal kits on the shelf to hook these up. I rebuild automatic transmissions as a hobby, and I can do a THM350 in my sleep. I just finished a THM350 for a guy I work with, and I'm rebuilding a Toyota auto for a friend right now.

OK - I just re-read your post - not the carb end. Stand by for a minute while I get my camera out. Be back in 10 minutes with pictures.

The other end attaches to the kickdown linkage inside the trans. Passenger side, right in front of the accumulator cover. But it's on top of the pan rail. It's held on with a bolt, and you can change it without pulling the pan, unless you let the kickdown rod fall into the pan.

I don't watch NASCAR, but I Know a little about American Iron.

Here's a picture of my latest creation. This will go into a 1981 Chevy PU with a built 350 engine. This trans has a lock-up torque converter, deep pan, red line frictions, Kolene steels, and a Gil Younger shift kit - it will be ausome.

This is the kick down cable where it attaches. One bolt holds it on. Later trans used a 10mm socket, but one as early as yours probably uses a 3/8 or 7/16.

The cable is hooked to a small rod.

The small rod looks like this - you can see it doesn't take much foolin around to connect it.

There is a small "O" ring that seals the end of the cable housing - don't forget this or it will leak. Let me know if you need the bolt size and thread pitch - I've got a couple dozen laying around here and there.
