Skipper

As most of you know I lost my Airedale of 12 years late las June. I still miss that ole girl. As of late I have started thinking about getting a new hotel for fleas. To that end I have been looking at Terrier Rescue Services on line. None of them have gotten back to me?? So on Monday night I called the Airedale Rescue Lady who told me about my Big Boy George. In mid conversation she asked if I would be interested in a Fox Terrier. I said sure, as the difference between them and a Welsh Terrier is colour. They are basically smaller versions of the Airedale.

I called the lady who has the the dog. He is 1 1/2 years old, is a Smooth Fox Terrier vs the Wire. His name is Skipper. The downside for him is that he has a supposed food allergy, no grains? So a special diet probably will be in order. He was orginally purchased from a pet store in Pismo Beach, CA. His orginal owner had small children and an Akita, which was eyeing him for a snack before lunch. So the lady begged his current owner to take him. This lady has had him for a year. She is renting a room and is living on a fixed income, so she says that she can not afford to keep him. She says he is very sweet gets along with other dogs and is housebroken. He is also neutered. The lady who has him just wants to find him a loving home. He is currently living in Pasadena, CA. So I am going to take a drive over to take a look at him and most likely will take him home with me.

I will be paying attention to see if Skipper has any baggage with regards to behavior problems. I hope not. Also the Smooth Fox Terrier isn't exactly the dog I was looking for. However I can love on Skipper regardless.

Now if ya wana talk about the hand of fate here. First I called the Airedale Rescue Lady at just the right moment, Skipper had just been put up for adoption this last wek and his birthday is the same as Mothers. Hmmm one cake will do for both now... I suppose.

I'm sure he'll be awesome. When I got my Manchester Terrier as a puppy he would throw up almost dailey. Found our he couldn't eat corn based food. Switched over to lamb & rice and the problem was gone. I'l always liked the fox terriers personally.
Good luck with your decision!!
