WTF is up with my neighbor?

The other night I'm sitting in my home/office at the computer (Blinds closed) when I hear noises coming from just outside by the mailbox. I turn off the lights in the room. I turn off the monitor so I'm not back lit. Wheel my chair over to the window and slowly open the blinds and see some dark figure dumping something in my garbage that is out on the curb for the next day.

The guy walks down a few houses into his garage. By now my mouth is wide open (like Niles on Fraser). I walk to our room where my wife is reading a book and tell her what I just saw. She leaps out of bed and heads for the front door..."WTF does he think he is doing". She is still going on her Martini from dinner and is on a mission.

We walk outside to check things out. Of course now my wife is heading down the street..."Excuse me", "Excuse me?" of course I should be the one doing this, but 1.) I'm still staring at the garbage cans thinking... Did he put any batteries or light bulbs in there? because you know, throwing these "Hazardous" items in your garbage is now illegal and punishable by fines. and 2.) Watching this guy get his ass handed to him by my half-lit wife is going to be fun to watch.

It seems he was going back to get MORE!

Now startled by this home slice dressed hissing wife standing a the bottom of his driveway, he says... "Oh I'm sorry, I didn't know you were home." What?

My wife finished off by telling him we was being weired and not to do it ever again.

I can see asking your neighbor if you can dump some extra stuff, but to do it to someone you don't know, when there not home? I would never think of doing such a thing. Would you?

Of course I checked the next morning for body parts. You never know.

Maybe it was dog poop?

pwd72s 02-12-2008 06:00 PM

Probably a money thing? So,,,if he gets you to pay for his trash bill? Thus allowing him to save a few dollars per moon? If you ask me? Just another overextended citizen... Trying to follow the (false) American dream..

slodave 02-12-2008 06:04 PM

Is your recycle bin usually full?

HardDrive 02-12-2008 06:05 PM

What an ass. Would it really be that difficult to simply ask? If we have extra recycling (the wife is a recycling nazi) we simply ask our neighbors across the street if they have space.

People are so odd......

Maybe he saw some garbage on the street and popped in your can since it was close.

strupgolf 02-12-2008 06:06 PM

I have to say: It's a Califonia thing. Is it so expenisve to put your trash out in front of your own house? Why in the world would anyone walk down from THEIR house and put THEIR trash in YOUR cans? Next time just shoot the f***er and put him in your trash can. Case closed.

M.D. Holloway 02-12-2008 06:07 PM

at least he wasn't having his carpets cleaned at 10:00PM...

stuartj 02-12-2008 06:11 PM

His bin was full, he putting something in yours because yours wasnt?

Shoulda let fly with the home defence Bofors. No court would convict you.

Regarding trash.... Two neighbors on my parents street are not getting along. This is a hill and the neighbors right down from my parents, do the easy thing, wheel the trash cans out of the drive and down hill a little against the curb. The neighbors down from them, are weird, but also have an issue with the people above them. The weirdo's wheel their full bins UP the street, righ to the property line.

Well, there is the other neighbor above my parents who is an absolute nut case, I could go on for pages... He likes to collect trash from around the city and deposit it around his property. These are expensive homes/properties and he brings the values down.

Yeah! Guys that do that, are real jerks!

vash 02-12-2008 06:18 PM

what did he dump? i agree, if he had a bag of dog poop, kudos. he picked up the stuff, and he tossed it. personally, if my can is not full, and it rarely is, i dont mind if someone walking by tosses legit trash into my can. no hazmat stuff of course. better than some jackass littering. but let me add, i am very tight with my neighbors.

you have a cool wife, dude. i like firecrackers.

Super_Dave_D 02-12-2008 06:22 PM

We are limited to how much our trash company will pick up each time so this Christmas we had a HUGE amount of trash and I knew they wouldnt pick it all up so....I stacked half of my trash infront of the neighbors house and the other half with mine!!

Key was - they were out of town AND I was watching their house - Thats OK right?

strupgolf 02-12-2008 06:31 PM

Well, after some thought, I would too welcome someone to put some trash into my can where I live. If it means the difference between littering and dumping, I'd say dump it, and I would not care where. But if only so it does'nt get out of hand.

:D

Weird. Trash pickup isn't that expensive where I live. I get a bill of $50-100 every other month for that. I suppose it would be more if I asked for more trashcans. So either your neighbor is cheap, or he's just weird for dumping his trash in your can without asking. Probably the former.

Jim Bremner 02-12-2008 06:51 PM

maybe it was his Midget Porn Collection, that he was too embaresed to have in HIS trash can:eek:

austin552 02-12-2008 07:08 PM

What's the deal? There picking the stuff up soon right?

DonDavis 02-12-2008 07:22 PM

Now, granted, we're getting a small piece of the story. Knowing that, I have to say...
"Lighten up, Francis!"

Uh, its trash, right? Whatever your concerns are, SHARE them with him. Did you find out if his can was full? Did he have a busy trash week and ran over? What time of night was it? If it was 10pm and some guy knocked on your door with a bag of garbage asking "Hey dude, my can's full. Can I toss this in yours?" would that bother you too?

If you got pissed just because he put some stuff in your can, read on.

What the hell is wrong with you? He put some of his trash with your trash. The horror! The horror! Do you really think your trash/garbage has a special place far away from your neighbors trash/garbage? Plus, if your wife had drinks to the point of a bad decision-making ability, why would you let her go and confront someone? The next thing we hear is she *****es him out, it escalates, then the cops are called. Do you really think the cops need to stand on your street, between you, your "drunk" wife and a guy tossing out some trash?

Perspective, perspsective.

BTW, How did this damn soap box get under my chair?SmileWavy
