Discovery Channel "Some Assembly Required" - anyone watch this?
I thought "How Its Made" and "Mythbusters" were good, looks like the Discovery Channel has another winner in "Some Assembly Required".
I can't say the the writers strike hurt TV. Between these shows and the CSI craze, maybe enough of this will motivate future science and engineering students? |
Great show. I could care less about the writer's strike, everything on the networks sucks anyway. Supposedly this has been a great boost to Discovery and TLC, with many viewers "discovering" their shows. Hopefully they won't go back to regular TV, at least Discovery and TLC programs stimulate some thought.

Yea, I enjoy that one as well.
I've been considering discontinuing my Direct TV service (too expensive) for a while, but Discovery is one of the channels that keeps me hanging on for now. If their programming went downhill and National Geographic, History and one or two others went away, the decision would be a no-brainer. |
This show and "How it's Made" are two favorites of my son and I. I record them and then we sit down at least once a day and watch an episode. He's 3 so he doesn't really understand everything that's going on, but still likes to watch the stuff being assembled/extruded/machined/etc...
He actually has a little routine mimicing the tools on the intro of "how it's made" complete with sound effects. |
If I didn't have The History Channel, ESPN, TLC, Discovery, HGTV, and Speed, I wouldn't watch a minute of TV. The networks are only useful for sports.
