new bike build (midway)

Well, my bike build got delayed as it turns out that the ex tossed out my old road bars (that had one barcon and one brake lever still installed). So I had to order parts. Finally got them today, but still have to go to the bike coop and bang the fork race on.

Quite the mongrel. Ritchey Logic cranks w/52/39 rings, DA rear derailleur, old Campy front derailleur, old style (pre-SLR) 105 brakes, Ultegra 8-spd barcons, Campy brake levers, Nitto "Noodle" bar, Salsa stem, Moots ti curved seatpost, wtb saddle, handbuilt (by me) wheels with Mavic MA-2 rims (blast from the past), Suntour XC 9000 front hub, XT rear hub, HG 12-28 8 spd cluster, SPeedplay Frog pedals.

Pics when I finish the build. Not sure if I can get it done before the Vegas race...just need to bang that damn race on...

HOT. What is that frame made out of?

Oh, these bike threads are killing me, that and the doc I'm going back & forth to see is right down the street from my buddy's bike shop

Won't be long before I go ahead & get a modern road bike:cool:
But the one I found & want is $6K:eek:

The frame is steel. I have an Ultegra front derailleur, but it is for a 31.6 tube (came off my old Moot ti frame). The Campy one has a 3-piece clamp structure and is circa late 70's or mid 80's I think. But with barcons and no indexing on the front, you can use must about anything. The noodle bar is really cool, bent back a bit and flatter on top, bit of flare at the ends.

STI blows...

Awesome. Its not a mongrel, its 'ethnically diverse'.

Love to see it when its together.

I like steel better than aluminum on a road bike, that is a pretty frame

Brings back old memories...

Looks good. I ended up picking up that Lemond from awhile back. Did 20 miles yesterday before work and felt pretty good. The plan is to get a ride in at least 4 times a week. We'll see how that works out.

Nostatic,

Looks great! What kind of fork are you throwin' on there? I just built this up with the same type of bars I think you're using. Very, very, comfy for commuting and bouncin' around! Good luck with the rest of your build!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1203431067.jpg
