Panamerica killer - Aston Martin Rapide

Aston Martin Rapide
......on AutoBlog
http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/17/spy-shots-aston-martin-rapide-in-the-round/

This is what a super lux performance sedan should look like. Bound to cut deeply into any sales projections for the Porsche Panamerica.

The Panamera hasn't been revealed but, I hate to say it, at this point the Aston looks better than this.

Wow. That Panamera prototype looks like a Pontiac.

The Aston, on the other hand, also gets a "Wow." But in a very good way.

IMHO, newer Aston Martins look like too much like Jaguars.

They don't get a "wow" from me the way the older ones did . . . although this bottom down view of the Rapide concept is cool:

Does the Panamera really need a "killer?"

Yes, the Aston looks much better than the Panapaprika IMO too. For some reason that makes me a bit sad. Porsche should be able to do better. But it may look awsome in the metal. Happened before. Perhaps the classic shape of the 911 just does not lend itself very well to a four door sedan.

Oh, and heck yeah, I want such a bumper sticker too!!

Its hard to judge when the Porsche is still covered in camo, but I am willing to say that the Aston Martin will be far better looking, the Porsche might end up with nice detailing, but even the camo can't hide the odd proportions.

Maybe I'm being childish, but I still hate the thought of a Porsche or Aston Martin four door. I grew up thinking of these as sportscar companies, which set them apart. Now they are scarcely different then any other luxury car makers.

To be fair to Aston they do have some history of building four door cars. In the Seventies they had the there first attempt the AM Lagonda which was based on a stretched V8 chassis.

Then in the eighties they had another go at building a Lagonda...

Yes okay they always stuck that other name badge on but they are both under the skin Aston Martins and personally I really like the eighties version.

Have you seen that 80s version? Man, that is one HUGE car. Little kids could play tennis on the hood.
