My Daughter Attends NIU - Scary Stuff

She is fine but I guess you don't think much about it till you have someone that goes to a school where there is a shooting.

All jokes and kinding aside about gun laws and all that, the feeling you get in the pit of your gut when you hear about something like this when you have a kid that attends a school with a shooting is not something you ever want repeated.

:(

Glad she's okay Lubey, I can't imagine your fear when first hearing about the shooting.

Try not to spend to much time agonizing over what might have been, it'll eat your gut up in no time...

Wow, glad to hear she's okay. How's she holding up? I imagine there are a lot of students pretty traumatized today.

I went to school in Wisconsin and NIU was on our debate circuit. We had a couple of debates there and I enjoyed the campus. When you spend a lot of time competing against the same people you end up hanging out with other teams that you make friends with. The NIU team was the one I hung out with most and I made most of my debate friends with them. The professor of the class where I met my wife was an ex-dean at NIU. I've always thought I had an unusually close connection with NIU, considering I never went to school there. All of that was 20 years ago but I was thinking of them and the current parents and students. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Glad to hear she's ok.

Glad that you daughter is okay. You are correct about how when you hear about something like that on the news it's almost always about some other place and you just say gee, that's too bad. But when it hits close to home or family it is quite different. My older brother and my nephew both graduated from NIU and one of my grand daughters is considering going to NIU. So that makes it a bit more compelling.
