No housing problems here.....
Wichita named the cheapest place to rent by NBC's Today show. The fun facts about our city were pretty lame, it's not THAT boring.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23172597/ We were also named the "Best City for Jobs" for 2008. So while many people fret about recession and housing bubbles, we have cheap rentals, 3-6% yearly appreciation on homes, and now hiring signs all over town. We may not have an ocean or mountains, but KS isn't all bad. Car content: no emissions testing (but low pollution).:D |

Paradise! Visitors welcome ...but "Hey you, please move along ...no loitering sir!":p |
No offense Matt, but I've been to Wichita and was bored out of my mind. Could never ever live there. Watching the weather radar on tv gave me the shivers with those tornados.

One of my wife's very good friends is a lifelong Wichita resident. I guess if you've grown up with it, it's a decent enough place. Personally I think I'd go out of my skull in about a week, but I'm just kind of like that - I need options.
Generally she speaks pretty well of the place although an occasional bit of resentment towards the redneck/go-nowhere-in-life attitude that exists to some extent there creeps in. She's done well for herself but also taught in the school system there for many years - I think she just got frustrated (as most teachers would) with the students/parents that don't place much value on edu-mi-cation. I was glad to have visited - it's a neat place and generally I found the people to be nice and the cost of living to be reasonable. But there's no way I could fathom living there. |
In another life, Cindy lived in Kansas City. She described three weather seasons there.
1. sweltering hot 2. freezing cold 3. tornado |
