Where is my $390,000.00?

According to Forbes.com, article titled "What your car says to the Opposite Sex",

"....A man pulling up to a ritzy restaurant in a two-seater Porsche 911 (other-otc: PSEPF - news - people ) sends a signal that he is a determined, highly successful, middle-aged professional....."

"...Take the Porsche 911. Its buyers are 86.8% male with the average age of 51 :eek:and median income of $390,000. :eek:They are driven to succeed and like to reward themselves for achieving their goals....."

So, who among the Pelican members has my $370,000.00????

:D:D:D:D

Dang!

Is that in 1983 $ or 2008 $? Doesn't matter, haven't got either one.

Porsche-O-Phile 02-16-2008 02:53 PM

Well, I guess my 911 and about another $300k or so and I'll be right there, won't I?

You gotta' be kiddin' me? Who actually makes that kind of money anyway?

Hugh R 02-16-2008 02:55 PM

Ugh, lawyers like you?

911Rob 02-16-2008 02:58 PM

Rob,

I'm ready for you to adopt me anytime you're ready.

My impression was that this article was about new cars.... Sorry to disappoint.

Art,

You are such a party-(&*(&*#!#!! I think we all realize that. :p:p

The article, in my opinion, is a bunch of whatever. I know a lot of people making this kind of money and 98%+ are driving MBZ, Lexus, and BMW. I only know of one who drives a Porsche.

Chocaholic 02-16-2008 05:49 PM

I'm guessing this doesn't apply to $9000 SC's. Yes?

Hey, my DD is a Honda, and my Pcar is older than most of the ancillary staff.....

Yeah the article proves that even Forbes is just one big ad.

It is all in the appearance. Great thing about the 911, it has retained its basic shape over the years so many people canīt tell an eighties model from a brand new.

We all look like $390k, well hung, creme de la creme hunks in our vintage oil burners! :)

Yea, unfortunately it's usually only to other guys - not to young ladies!

Komenda Fan 02-16-2008 07:51 PM

well, the article does say a 2 seat 911, so I had better get that RS carpet kit under my bed installed pronto, a big pay day awaits...

WI wide body 02-16-2008 08:02 PM

Actually I did make that kind of $$$ one year......but my tax guy said that I had to roll over my employer's lump sum payout if I wanted to eat in later years!

"Legends".... in our own minds. ha, ha!

KFC911 02-17-2008 02:58 AM

Maybe Snowman is writing for Forbes now...I seem to recall him stating that $250K per was a "decent" income. I don't live in his world :)

LOL

Well, if that's their priority, you're better off without. :)

Sammy,

It is not the billionaires skewing the median. It is me.

If it is not for my minimum wage (I am an illegal citizen), the median would have been $590,000.00!!! :p:D:D

grudk 02-17-2008 09:10 PM

I'm with Wayne. Seems rather high to me. Based on stats, about 1% of the population has a household income over 250K. While that leaves plenty of people in the USA to buy a small number of 911s, I don't think they are all bought by the wealthiest Americans. Here in LA, I know several with incomes of under 100K with a new 911. Behold the power of credit and an image-conscious society. Now, if you told me the median income of a cash buyer was 390K, I might believe it.

dentist90 02-22-2008 08:02 PM

Oh, Ya, I'm sure I made at least $400,000 last year. Problem is that my accountant is SO very good at hiding it that even I haven't been able to find it!
Guess that's why I'm driving an '84.
