Good on the cop. Kid deserves a smack upside the head and a night in jail, IMO.
Smack-talking the cops, then wanting to call his mommy... too funny! |

Mind you, if I was that cop and had to drive around in the meter-maid Smart car, I'd be a little pissy as well.

Officer Reverie (SP?) was way over the line but it sounds to me like the kid could use a little "authority" in his life.

When he tackles the kid at :45 and the part where the officer starts talking how the kid isnt going to live long isn't cool. For chissakes the kids 14! I know when to shut my mouth when I talk to a cop, but if I am not doing anything wrong at all, and I know it, and a cop tackles me I am going to be pissed.

I did not know Baltimore was so crime free that they were concentrating on Skaters now.

Threatening their death . . .WTF? ....dude.
apparently the cop didn't hear the kid say he had no dad. His foaming mouth must have plugged his ears. Well, at least the kid has now been taught how to over-react and bully, for when he gets bigger. Maybe he can use those tactics with his future wife. Smack'er around a bit. .... for her own good. . . ."respect" you know ![]()

He needs to go. Fired, abuse of authority. I live near Baltimore what a shame. He could even be heard in the end asking if the camera is on.
Kids are going to question authority, heck I question authority when its not logical. Rivieri should have known better but needed to flex. Idiot. |

If that were my kid (I am happy to say that would be WILDLY hypothetical), it's not the cop he'd be having issues with at the end of the process.

I like what the cop said at the end.
"That camera better NOT be on". It took him almost four minutes to worry about a camera. I'd be bitter too if I had to drive a clown car dressed like a bumble bee.

the cop is an ass-wipe.... totally out of control on the cops part... way ove rthe top....
hopefully > the cop is toast > should be immediately relieved of his badge.. his gun and placed on non-pay suspension.... where he takes a swipe at the kid > looks like simple assault to me... If the cop did that to my kid.. me and the cop would have a go of it...

Yup, I couldn't agree more. I had an encounter with a similar cop just Sunday morning when I dropped my girlfriend off at LAX about 9 am. Motorcycle cop with a TOTAL attitude. FOr anyone that isn't familiar, LAX is a horseshoe. You are required to drive 25 mph max. I was in the middle lane approaching the start of the curve (to the left). Cop sitting on his bike, as I go past he flips on his lights and goes AROUND me from behind to the lane to my left. He is behind an SUV slightly in front of me. I look down at my speed because, hey...it's a cop. I'm doing like 18-19 mph. As I pass I am looking in my rearview mirror to see who he's pulling over - woman driving, man passenger who appears Middle Eastern...I figure its related, who knows? SUddenly, he's behind me with lights on. I pull over, he walks up and in a voice just slightly lower than a shout says, "Didn't you see me pulling over that car?" I respond, yes I did, what did I do? He says, "You went flying past me. You are required to pull over to the left (??!). You endangered me and I don't appreciate it. I said, "Gee, I'm sorry but I wasn't even doing 20 and I was pulling over..." I didn't get ot finish as he is now talking even louder. Still hasn't taken off his helmet or mirrored sunglasses. He tells me, "Don't argue with me" I said, I'm not arguing..." "Yes, you are, I';m telling you, you endangered me....." blah, blah, blah. Clearly he REQUIRED meekness, wanted to make me look down (I wouldn't) he was an asshat. He takes my license, he goes to check me for warrants, stays gone while comes back and starts in again. Everything short of finger wagging me. I am FRIGGIN pi$$ed and I'm sure it shows but I only say, "Yes, and uh huh". When we get left to go and pull up literally 100 feet way at her terminal, my girlfriend says, "We're lucky he let us off". I can't even respond. He "let us off" for doing NOTHING! The guy he was going to stop he let go!!! Okay, so maybe I should have stopped dead in the middle of the road. I'm even willing to acknowledge he may not have been looking at me and I frightened him, whatever. I've never heard of pulling over to the left. I have ALWAYS pulled over right and stopped when red lights flash or just stop dead if I can't. My issue is this guys (and the guy in the video link) attitude. I see it over and over and over. I honestly do. The 'tude just drips off these guys. I am SICK of the too-much-testosterone, tailored uniform-to-showoff-my-impressive-biceps, I've-got-EVERY-piece-of-tech-crap-in-its-own-leather-carrier-on-my-belt kind of cop. These guys regard cops as "us" and all of the rest of us as "them". I used to think cops like this were the exception and perhaps they are but more and more I think the reasonable, normal cops are the exception. If you're a cop you MUST know these jacka$$e$ are out there in number. They test these guys for aptitude and for physical prowess, but not for emotional stability enough to suit me. Rant over. If you know me you know I'm a middle aged guy who is normally soft spoken and respectful of people in general. I;m out...but STILL pi$$ed off!

Haha. And the cops on here wonder why everyone seems to not like cops in general. Go figure. No one ever posts videos of a nice helpful cop. Where're the LEOs to the rescue to defend throwing a 14 year old kid to the ground?
Seems like this cop is going around looking for something. Maybe when he starts talking to MEN and not BOYS like that, he'll get what he's looking for. He wants to talk about respect? **** HIM. You guys that think the kid is in the wrong are OUT OF YOUR DAMN MINDS. Hopefully this guy gets the living **** kicked out of him. Then he can ramble on about "disrespect the badge" blah blah blah. What a loser.

where I grew up the REAL cops were hard on us but nowhere near that level of vitriolic spewing. I had officers pull up in their cruisers and say things like" boy DO NOT be here when I come back this way" or " you're not doing what I think you're doing are you?" I'd say no sir and he'd pull away. The REAL cops in my neighborhood never wore shorts, didn't have bellies hanging over their belts and NEVER laid a hand on us unless we were athreat to them or someone else. There's a reason this donut bag is driving a meter maid cart instead of a cruiser. IMHO...although he's wearing a badge, he ain't no REAL cop. He's a discredit to all the REAL LEOs out there.

I can't help but wonder what the previous 5 minutes look like. If the kids were lipping off while the 'meter maid' was writing tickets, then they probably got what they had coming. If this was the start of it, then why were they taping?
Otherwise, I'd say he was WAY out of line.

Not even close. No matter WHAT they said, unless it was something along the lines of "I'm going to kill you pig" and the threat was credible, which it wouldn't be, he had NO RIGHT, legally or otherwise, to LAY A SINGLE FINGER on them. Completely inexcusable.
I'm all for beating your kids when they get out of line. You, beating YOUR kids. Not some loser piece of **** cop on a power trip trying to act hard because he can't hack it anyway else. Quote:

I agree that not much warrants what the cop did. I'm just saying we're not getting the whole picture.
