Damn Craigslist keeps deleting my Ads...please critique

Hi Guys - Any of you are successful on listing stuff on Craigslist? I tried for the first time last night - frustrating!!

I am trying to clean out my Garage full of old Datsun Z parts before Spring gets here.

Low and behold I get an auto generated message from Craigslist stating that 98% of all submitted ads are "REJECTED" due to content...so can you please critique my ad below and let me know if you see any flags, here is the exact ad:

Title: "Datsun 240Z 260Z 280Z 280ZX Turbo Borg Warner T5 5Speed Tranny RARE!"

My Actual Description:
"I am selling a spare Borg Warner T5 Speed Tranny out of a 1983 280ZX Turbo. This will fit any L24, L26 or L28 motor and therefore any 240Z, 260Z, 280Z or 280ZX. This is the strongest Factory tranny that came from Nissan for these pre '83 cars and is a 100% bolt-in. This tranny is missing the front splined input shaft and I recommend that it be fully checked out before installation. Shifter included, clutch fork and throw out bearing. I originally paid $100 for the tranny.
I am trying to clean all the clutter out my garage before Spring. Please contact Yasin at 719-528-5849 (or leave a message) or email slownrusty@yahoo.com I am located in Colorado Springs."

Many thanks - Yasin

I don't understand why that would be rejected.

They run ads for prostitutes, gays, etc. don't know why 'trannys' would not be acceptable??:)

I copied, pasted and rearranged your text into an ad... It looked like it was going to post without any trouble. Other than rearranging the text, the only other thing I changed was the title.

try spelling transmission instead might be flaging because tranny as transvestites...LOL
that or someone is flagging your ad .i've had this happen when a guy wanted parts real cheap and when i refused his price he kept flagging my ad to stop others from buying from me ...Angel

Maybe the words Tranny and Shaft are setting off alarms somewhere.

You'd think that on CL, it would meet 'best of' or get premium placement if contained deviant content...

There used to be a guy who spammed the RI craigslist - every section imaginable, like sporting goods, real estate etc- with an ad that read something like:

DAD SEEKS SON IN SOCKS FOR SPANKING, TOILET TRAINING, AND GENERAL DISCIPLINE. MUST BE UNDER 30.

Might want to rethink that.:D

I've heard rumors that car postings and car parts postings will get "ganged up on" (flagged) by auto dealerships and salvage places in order to cut down on competition. Just a rumor I've heard though (and somewhat substantiated by the fact that I see a lot of both kinds of posts get deleted). Don't know if it's true or not though - sounds a little "conspiracy-theory-ish" to me, but you never know.

In the automotive world, sleaze and dirty tactics are unknown concepts. I wouldn't put it past "players" in the industry at all, FWIW.

Thanks to all who chimed in, I'll try it again and make the ad short and brief -which I hate because I love to give details. But anyhooo I'll give it a whirl!

Thanks again folks.

Make sure in the "location" box you put "Colorado Springs", and don't put multiples like "colorado springs, denver". that will do it sometimes.

It's probably the juxtaposition of so many Xs and the word tranny in the title.

onewhippedpuppy 02-18-2008 02:56 PM

I've had legit postings flagged for removal by douchebags before. Reposted without issue.

fingpilot 02-18-2008 08:56 PM

competition control, happens a lot to me too.

Repost as often as needed. I have done this and not had any issues. Also keep notes on the first 5 people who contact you as the first 2-3 usually do not show up. For some reason CL has a large number of flakes.

I immediately thought of this thread when I saw the tech forum today.

Title = "Tranny input shaft lube?"

Started to mess with his thread, but didn't.
