Is this an example of the term "anal" being used as a adjective?

Or....perhaps in this instance "anal" is a type of fetish or preoccupation or fixation? Haven't there been some public figures recently who were very vocal opponents of homosexuality whose personal lives were found to be a bit.......unconventional?

Its always the consersative bible thumping loud mouths that turn up hitting the back door in airport bathrooms.
