Another Buyer Scam

Does this stuff actually work on people - It must! A buddy selling his Vette just sent me this email he received.


Hello,

I have forwarded your vehicle information to my client and after evaluation and due to time constraint on the fact that we are running short of time. I'm delighted to tell you that my client has recommended your vehicle, with full interest and he has instructed me to carry on with his transaction,he hopes the engine is serviced and oil changed too.

However, my client made out a certified cashiers check of($18,000) before he travelled to Germany for death of his daughter,for a previous vehicle and its shipment charges etc,but it was unfortunately sold.The amount on the check he deposited for the vehicle is bigger than what should be paid to you now, so the check is now meant for the total expenses which includes the purchase of your vehicle,the pick up of the vehicle from its present location and the shipping charges/other necessary shipping arrangements.

However he has instructed us to carry on with this transaction. So you're required to deduct the cost of your vehicle ($11,800)and send the balance of($6,200) to the Agent ( our shipper ) for him to be able to offset shipping & tax charges, and other cosmetic repair costs.

After payment has reached you and balance sent to shipper, the shipper's agent will come for inspection, pick up (of vehicle & signing of title papers), make some cosmetic touches and drive to a prepaid shipper to be shipped to my customer and also conclude other necessary shipping arrangements. So you don't have to bother yourself about the pick up and shipping arrangements.

Please Confirm this and provide

Hmm I dont know, really the first thing I would do when my daughter DIED would be to buy an overseas car. Really I think the story checks out okay

I saw the exact same story, only the car for sale was a Porsche. Its a typical cut and paste, throw as many on the wall and see if one might stick.

I listed a car for sell on Craig's List & had SEVERAL of those replys.
It really brings them out of the woodwork

What do you guys think of this reply I received from a Craigslist Seller about a laptop.

Hi there,

Sorry for my late reply but I'm currently in England, Wolverhampton. I was promoted to Sales Administrator and I have to take a 6 months trainning program here in UK, before I'll be back home, in States.
The laptop is still available, in perfect condition, and I will sell it only in US because here the warranty and the DellCare are US registered.
I can't use the laptop here in UK because it works on 110 V. I didn't know about this problem when I moved here and another reason why I am selling the laptop is because I have just received a new laptop as a birthday gift here in UK, so I do not think I will be using my old laptop any more. I don't have use for 2 laptops.
I have attached some pics with the laptop to this e-mail so you can see the condition of the laptop. I bought the laptop 12 months ago and it still has 12 months of Dell transferable warranty remaining ( you can extand the warranty for one year on your name ).
I hope you are still interested and we can make the deal happen right away.

I deleted the email and forgot about the laptop. Is was listed for about 1/2 of what its worth.
