Toshiba said it made the decision to cease developing, manufacturing, and marketing HD DVDs after "recent major changes in the market." It promised to continue offering support and service for all existing Toshiba HD DVD products

Sony sucks. They basically threw money at these people to sell their crap.

I despise Sony.

Kindly offer substantiation of "Sony sucks"

I can't speak on the company ethics or what have you, but never had a problem with their products. PS3 rocks

There was no way Sony was going to lose a format battle again- think betamax. I suspect they were very aggressive behind the scene, and threw a lot of money to support blu-ray. I am glad that one format has been chosen.

If you're willing to offer more, I'm willing to read it.

So which of the Bluray standards "won"?

I couldn't disagree more. This has been the best and most reliable brand I have experienced throughout my life. Especially when it comes to TV's.
