no, the clones were the ones causing all the hardware problems. They were crap. MACs never had the hardware issues intrinsic to the average wintel machines.

Nothing about MAC owners being smart implied. Business always look for short term financial advantages and the wintel machines looked good from that perspective, and the MACs didn't. Five years down the road and they have would have paid for the MACS twice over. I went with a MAC after I went through the first year of 386 crap machines. One look at the pile of useless machines in the IT trailer after one year convinced me.

Thanks, all.

I thought that was the demographic for the typical Porsche owner as perceived by Buick owners. Hey wait a second .....Buick/ PC - Porsche/ Mac, now does it make sense?:D

speeder 02-26-2008 09:07 AM

More like the entire domestic car crowd vs. the european car crowd. (Porsche/BMW/Audi/etc...). Market share as proof of superiority?? In a country where people buy more Wonder bread and Chevy Suburbans? You've got to be kidding me.

The consumer market pays more for Macs because they are vastly superior products. I've had both; the best Sony Vaio PC, (good machine, actually), and on my 4th Mac. (All of them I still own and still work fine). It is like comparing a BMW M5 to a new 'vette. They both go fast, but one of them is a POS compared to the other.

Don't try to pin it on Americans. The whole world is stupid when it comes to Macs. Just you 6% geniuses to carry the flag.

For every product there is a customer. For some, "OK" is good enough. Others want the best. It's just the way it is.

Didn't you say you were leaving this thread yesterday? :D

Seriously, you came to this debate thinking Macs were filled with proprietary parts . . .

You don't even have a dog in the fight; why do you care so much about Macs? :D

Best to you, Mule.

Kurt

Hmm,

So let's digest the following chart.

The lowest I've scored on standard IQ tests was 127 and the highest 142. Puts me in the top 5%.
(my daughter last checked in at 139 and her younger brother at 137, time will tell)

Moses is a Dr so according to this chart he should be hitting at least 125. Top 5%.

There is sufficient data to support the correlation between creativity and intelligence.

Many Mac users are in the creative fields.

So yeah maybe you have something there.

Maybe Macs are for the top 6% or so.

Thanks for not including me; I'm an outlier to the negative and would have seriously skewed your example. :p

Best,

Kurt

Those who surf the Web using a Mac tend to be better educated and make more money than their PC-using counterparts, according to a report from Nielsen/NetRatings.

Come on guys, this is getting silly.

Best,

Gosh, Porsche has way less of the auto market than 6%...so per Mule's logic all of us "geniuses" who drive a Porsche are even dumber than the Mac users. Right Mule?;)

I got a MacBook last year. Works great, can run Windows as well as Mac OS, use it for 3d Studio Max, Solidworks, Autocad. Just as fast as my Dell at work.

island911 02-26-2008 06:08 PM

It didn't make any sense the second time either.

island911 02-26-2008 06:27 PM

Lol

I figured some would need time to think about it.
