Wayne...why no "ignore thread" tool?

I know other versions of this software support it... I think this could be a happier place if the moderates (define it however you like) could select threads to ignore. Sort of like internet Zoloft....everyone;s ranting and raving abour religeon and Hillary....to me it doesn't exist! I'm reading about plumbers, geek guiness book entries and (sadly) dismembered pet rabbits. Oh, happy day. Filters. All about this filters.

Can we turn this feature on?

Wow... do the moderates really need the board to save them from those horrible threads... JUST DON'T OPEN THEM!

frogger 02-26-2008 06:01 AM

Must...exercise...self...control...

Ignore buttons are for girlie men. :D

Best,

Kurt

This would let me ignore entire threads...not posters....on some days, I guess I would open this up and only see 5 topics that aren't on my ignore list. :D Everyone else could see it and participate...I'd have to clear it (like an ignored used) if I wanted to read it.

Mods are poopy heads.
Ignore THAT!

I'm pretty good at deciding what threads I don't want to open based on the title and who posted them.

Sometimes it's like a bad accident. You know what it's going to look like, but you slow down and look anyway. YOu're not a better person for having seen it, but it's human nature. :)

I actually would like the government to tell me what threads I should read. There's not enough oversight here.

gprsh924 02-26-2008 05:41 PM

There are many threads that I simply don't open. I can make that judgement for myself, ie. religion

I use the float over to read the first few lines. Helps to filter out unwanted reading. :)
I do thinkt hat an extra icon for threads for a R+/XX rating would be useful too. ;)

Wayne added the "hover" feature just for this very reason. Hover and you'll see the first three lines or so of the thread, then you can decide not to click on it.

frogger 02-27-2008 04:59 AM

Yeah. That works pretty well for weeding out threads that you might not be able to get a good sense of by simply looking at their title.

Actually, there is a secret back-route to ignore threads on bulletin boards using vbulletin. Simply put your mouse cursor over the thread you wish to ignore and hit "Ctrl-W." Do this for each thread you dislike.
