Stanley Cabinets - Any comments?

Looks like I'll have the budget to buy these cabinets. I'm concerned they're not metal and will not withstand they years loaded with stuff.
Internally they're like a rubbermaid kind of cabinet with the shiney metal sheet on the door.

Any comments??

Thanks

Garage
seem to make mostly junk nowadays

I'd be tempted to make my own cabinets out of wood

also, see if Wayne doesn't have something ...

They look nice and probably will handle day to day abuse. But make sure you get at least one steel cabinet to hold paint and oil.

These are plastic.

Plastic is not the best material for shelving (they "creep" over time, and thus the shelves will sag within months), and you might want to place an intermediate support under each shelf, to hold the weight that most Porsche-philes have in their garage. I would not place heavy metal parts on plastic shelves.

Christmas decorations, baskets, etc are okay, since they don't weight much. But even paper and auto chemicals will make the shelves sag.

my bro just bought something like this at Cosco.

"Just the draws& feet are in stainless. The frame is powder coated in black grain finish. 6ft. in with.

$500 out the door. I found out this company makes tool boxes and out door grills."

Hi Ronin,

Ooooooo, that looks nice and sturdy. Much better than plastic, and the drawers look like they are full-extension.

Let's buy up all pof COSTCO's inventory!!!!

If that was my work bench, it would soon be over run with junk and stuff to the point you can even see the wood. I clean it off a couple times a year, but it just gets covered up in a week.

I feel your pain. I cannot keep my work bench clear either.

I am about to tear my garage apart and throw a tom of crap away. If I have not touched something in 6 months or more its gone. I can barely still fit 2 cars in my 2 car garage.

I have 3 upper stanley cabinets mounted above my bench. I chose them for storing items that I don't use often. Including one full of auto paint and chemicals. The shelves are sturdy and do not sag. I have a steel 6ft sears cabinet for heavier items and Gladiator tool boxes. The Gladiators are great for heavy and often used items.

The stanley's are fine for my purposes.

My father in law manages a cabinet shop, I got a full set from him that sort of match and are all solid oak. Every one has some sort of blemish that makes them unfit for a kitchen but perfect for a garage. Instead of a counter top I made the top out of two 3/4" pieces of plywood screwed together.

If I can get all the crap off of them I'll get a picture.
