I'm strongly with Supe and Mule on this one- take the element of crime out of drugs and most of the problem is solved. Make them legal, tax them and we'll have more money than we know what to do with. It would more than fund anti-drug programs- and we'd save millions by ending this phony and blatantly ineffective "war on drugs". I think we'd end up with less drug users and a lot less crime in the long run.
I think any reasonable person would agree that what we're doing now is a ridiculous, dismal failure. We've had presidents and currently have presidential candidates who indulged. Think about how different their lives would be had they been busted.
And yes I would say cut the pharmicists out of the picture for marijuana and it's derivatives, cocaine, heroin, morphine, ecstasy and the hallucinogens. The only recreational drug I would not want to see legalized are methamphetimines.
