Identity Theft

There's a huge amount of it, but it doesn't seem to get a lot of ink. This is a local example and detail isn't much, but hopefully it will begin to get more attention considering how important and destructive the problem is.

I had a small taste of identity theft. I caught it before it went far, but it was a huge pain. The perp ran up some small charges on my amex to start up am ebay business. Ebay went after me for fees. They had a credit collector dog me for months before I found a way to make it stop. Fortunately, I managed to shut it down before it got on a credit report.

The collection people were real scum. It would have really sucked to have my credit ruined without a real way to fix it. I can't imagine what you would have to do to once they mess up your credit history.
