Don’t you DARE use MY FULL name!

Well, it seems the media and Obama’s camp is crying foul EVERY TIME someone uses his full name. Barack Hussein Obama.

How laughable this is all becoming.

Gee …if only that S.O.B. Saddam had been named Huckabee or McCain!

Lesson for today. If you ever want your child to grow up and get involved in politics, better skip over certain middle names, such as:

James Adolph Smith
Susan Lenin Jones
Stephen Kadaffee Funkhouser
Jessica Stalin Jameson
Laura Vladimir Einstein

No matter how qualified a person was for office, I am certain I could NEVER vote for them if I thought they had a funny/ethnic name!

You know …like Schwartznegger!
I’ve never met him …but he MUST be a Black/Jewish/Kraut!

Barack ?! what the hell kind of name is that?! ...What happened to his former name "Barry"?

jyl 03-01-2008 04:35 PM

His actual, given name is Barack. Barry was a school nickname. When people grow up, sometimes they want to be taken more seriously and not called little Jimmy any more.

As for the "Hussein", some Republican groups are obviously trying to get the stupider voters to think Obama is a Muslim and related to Saddam Hussein. Probably the same groups aiming for the same dimwits as in the 2000 South Carolina primary.

You'll notice no-one refers to McCain as "John Sidney McCain the Third". So apparently the desire to use full names doesn't extend to every candidate.

I think the Muslim/Hussein thing will play out long before the election - they probably should have saved it for closer to the moment.

I wonder if we'll go down the mud trail to McCain's infidelity and divorce too?

island911 03-01-2008 04:41 PM

Remember how the Dem's went after Romney for have an association with [whisper]Mormons[/whisper]?

Are you SURE about that? I read that "Barry" was his name (not nickname).

I think that he changed back to Barack to regain some blackness .. tho' he certainly could have just added blackness to "Barry" and gotten "Black Barry.":cool:

Hoot! Or "Marion Berry"...which really is a food crop grown in Oregon...makes damned good pies, jams & jellies, etc.

Joeaksa 03-01-2008 05:41 PM

And not to forget that Geraldo Rivera used the name Jerry Rivera until he got important and on television.

He went to college with loads of my friends in Tucson and was one of the guys until television came along and he became hispanic to use the minority card.

I am sure you are worried about the Democrat voters being stupid, no Republicans are going to vote for him no matter what he calls himself today. Only the Democrats have a problem with it and mostly Hillarys people are the ones hammering him. Republicans don't care so much yet, Democrat voters have too short of a memory to start hitting him now. We have to give the Democrats the shots at the last second, the attention span is too short.
Remember Florida, Democrat voters, Democrat machines in Democrat Preciencts, oh well.

He may not be a practicing Muslim with a name like that - but you should read about the church he does belong to:

I hadn't read that, nor can I find any reference.

Can you post a link?

Oh, I forgot, you never provide any references for anything you say. You just make it up.

That was Barry as a kid. Here is a a puff piece on Barry's college days.

"O'bomber" was his Nickname. ;)

varmint 03-01-2008 09:21 PM

anybody remember ann richards? she would always address the first bush as "george-herbert-walker-bush". in that shrill voice of hers. she was trying to remind voters of the family's patrician roots.

it's going to be a long campaign. obama's supporters are implying that even using his middle name is racist. can you imagine the kind of ****fit they'll throw when somebody starts pointing out that the guy isn't a deep thinker?
ultimately, i don't care about the name. the whole issue is already starting to seem tiresome and petty. there are a 100 other reasons not to vote for him.

jyl 03-01-2008 09:23 PM

Right- do you have basic comprehension problems?

Yes, he was nicknamed "Barry" when a kid, everyone knows that. Apparently he had a good jump shot, for awhile his nickname was"O'Bomber".

You said he changed his name to "Barack" to get some blackness. Show me a source that says his birth name was Barry and he changed it to Barack, will you? Otherwise, you're making up stuff as you always do.

As far as I've found, he was born "Barack Hussein Obama, Jr", named after his father Barack Hussein Obama, Sr.

Speaking of basic comprehension problems, try re-reading what I posted:

What part of "back to" don't you understand? Because the way I see it, I'm saying that his given name was Barack but he grew-up as "Barry" ...and changed BACK TO...

jyl 03-01-2008 10:33 PM

Okay - you have comprehension problems, and you have expression problems. You don't understand the concepts of name and nickname, and you can't write clearly enough to express what you think you understand.

A guy is born "James", when he's a kid people nickname him "Jimbo", when he's grown up he prefers to be called his name "James" rather than his nickname. That's the Barack/Barry story.

You think its worthy of some snide post, Barack ?! what the hell kind of name is that?! ...What happened to his former name "Barry"? - whatever, I guess nothing much goes on in that upper left island.

island911 03-01-2008 11:21 PM

nick·name tr.v. --A familiar or shortened form of a proper name.

James ->Jim

John ->Johny

Robert ->Rob

Samuel -> Sam

Barack->Barry Why that sounds familiar AND shortened.. :rolleyes:

Also, "Barry" stands on it's own as a proper name -- not as nickname. Saying that "Barry is a nickname" is as stupid as "John is a nickname" . . well, unless one is talking about the place to find crap. :cool:

Mule 03-01-2008 11:35 PM

His moniker from basketball days, Barry the Bomber, is not quite fixing his problem I'm thinking.

island911 03-02-2008 12:10 AM

I believe it was Barry O'Bomber. Yeah, that can't help.

I got to think that his bigger problem is in ditching his "white" name to go full Barack Hussein Obama. Geez, his dad ditched him as a baby and Barry decides to honor the guy by using his name. --whacked.

slakjaw 03-02-2008 01:52 AM

There 10000 reasons not to vote for him.

67R69S 03-02-2008 05:59 AM

"I believe it was Barry O'Bomber. Yeah, that can't help"

True, but it is probably better than Hussein O'Bomber.

A balanced write up:)

"He voted to grant habeas corpus to persons being detained by the US. Apparently John McCain does not recognize the bill of rights as he voted against it."

cashflyer 03-02-2008 09:18 AM

Barry O'Bomber was the name he used to illustrate his Irish background.

fintstone 03-02-2008 10:04 AM

So why exactly is ashamed of his middle name?
