When Will Hackers Disrupt The Presidential Campaign?
Why haven't hackers and spammers hijacked the online efforts of the Presidential candidates?
For example, Obama sends emails to people on his list, asking them to do this or that, please click the link for information. I suspect Obama supporters open those emails and click the links - wouldn't they be prime targets? Either for normal malware (data gathering, zombies, etc) or for political malware (screw up their PCs and make them unwilling to open Obama emails, or send them and their contacts false emails in the future - of the "I, Barack Obama, confess to being an Islamic terrorist" sort). McCain could be a target too, although he doesn't use the Internet as much. How come we haven't seen this yet? Do spammers figure they'd rather go after lower-profile targets, rather than invite the FBI etc after them? |
I think they did in 2004! :-)
