Budvar Budweiser is the original brewery with this name, having being founded in the 1200's in Europe. AH Busch here in the states came along way later, in the late 1800's but act like they were the first with the name. The American "Bud" has tried to buy the Czech Budweiser for years now and they refuse to sell at any price, so the Americans decided to screw them in another way.

The reason Budvar is called Czechvar here is because AH Busch blocked them from selling here in the states under their name, to the Czech company renamed it for sale in the states. People who know beer know Budvar.

Would rather eat dirt than drink an American Budweiser, especially if there is a Budvar or Czechvar around.
