Unimog info?

Anyone know of a Pelican-esque or samba-esque site for Unimogs? I found one that seems like it might be a good candidate.

P.M. "cneilsen"; Chris is our local Unimog expert up here in the NW. He can probably steer you towards some good information.

isn't there a board member with "unimog" in their username?

Cool, you thinking of getting it Thom?

I think Jake Raby has one of those with a type IV VW motor in it, or do they all have that?

Awesome. Make it into a tow vehicle.:D

Slow but will go about anywhere you want it to go, powered by MB 4 or small 6 cyl diesel engine, made for the German Army never exported to the US someone must have brought it into the US. A great hunting vehicle, built like a tank.....

Throw in a turbodiesel and use it to tow the 911 to the track.

Jake's doesn't have a T-4 but he is developing parts for upgrading the stock Pinz motor. I believe L&M Engineering is developing new P&C for them.

There's not really a good forum for Unimogs. A buddy of mine has one and the best info he got was from this low-tech mailing list- http://www.tx4x4.com/. Pirate4x4.com has a Unimog forum- but it doesn't get much traffic. Try expedition imports too, they sell parts and service. They also have a big for sale section- good to get an idea of what various mogs are going for.

I have one...but doesn't look nearly as good as that one! Haven't found a good forum either...

pirate4x4.com

They have a section for Mercedes.

Pretty sure that's a Pinzgauer he's got. They're quite a bit smaller... a bit bigger than a VW type2, but they are great machines. Most have a Puch aircooled motor... but some have the Volvo 2.4 liter turbodiesel (which is just a VW 1.6TD with 2 more cylinders). If I ever part ways with my Samurai, I'd really like to get a pinzgauer 710

There's a guy I met nearby who had a Unimog pickup with a really short wheelbase, and the mercedes 617 turbodiesel engine. Great because they made millions of those engines.
