Ariel has announced the latest version of the Atom – the Ariel Atom 500, powered by a small V8 engine.

With over 500bhp in a 500kilo package the Atom 500 will boast one of the highest power to weight ratios ever for a production car.

The Atom will have over 1000bhp per tonne (compared to a Bugatti Veyron’s 521bhp/tonne) and will be built in limited numbers.

Would someone PLEASE buy me one of these!

Holy dear God! The original Atom stretched Clarkson's cheeks back to his ears, this one will simply rip them off.

They better mount some big FAT tires on that thing.

An Ariel Atom is in my future. I plan on buying one in about a year! I may have to rethink which model I want.....500..........wow!

Good guess. Power to weight can't be far off an F1 car. Just think if they'd used one of those magical 4cyls.

Why are the big three taking a dive into the crapper? Hmmm cause they are scared to design a car people actually WANT to drive.

The Atom has been in my top 5 favorite cars and may have actually now been pushed up to the #1 or #2 slot.

There are few things I'd consider going Porsche-less for. This I think is one of them.

This makes run-of-the mill Porsche performance look like a garbage truck.

Yeah, those Yoko's will never hold up to that task.

Options include:

G-Suit (from discontinued F-15 programme).
Hans Device (to stop neck from snapping during normal acceleration!)
Teflon underpants (no explanation needed).
Delorean Time Machine Flux capacitor
