I thought so...Istanbul was a civilized city and a trading port before Columbus sailed the ocean blue...May Evren enjoy as much time with the car as I did...

Paul, I commend you for doing what you felt was best for your pride and joy, as opposed to simply selling to the highest bidder. Stunning car though, it couldn't have been easy.

We should all be so lucky to retire in those surroundings:)

Great! I have been in touch with Evren and will see him the next time I get to Istanbul! Was there recently and he was in America, so we will make it sometime!

I was there last fall, and spent the night in Istanbul. Emailed him but did not hear from him for couple of days, and it turns out he was on vacation (or working, not sure which) in Florida!

Will give the old girl a squeeze and hug for you! I still miss my '72 and would love to have another someday.

How long from door to door?

Seemed like damned near forever. She left here in July of '07...reached Istanbul in a few months, but Customs kept delaying...and delaying. I think Evren got her, finally in December? But then, Istanbul weather wasn't conducive to pleasure driving until about now...

i think you should pay a visit someday Istanbul is one of the nicest places in Europe ! Must be awesome to drive around there in that pretty S :)

Cindy & I would be there in a heartbeat if we could...alas, some health stuff has pretty much restricted us to only day long excursions...

Congratulations to Evren on enduring the wait.

I had to wait 10 months to get my Tristar from Germany. About 8 months of the wait was while the car was stuck in US customs in the dock, and while it was getting OK'd by the EPA.

It was worth the wait for me, and for Evren too, I'm sure.

Yeah...and to think...during that drive in the pics? She was probably drinking leaded fuel...what she was designed for. Pump gas in Oregon these days?

I think Evren has a difficult task... I am not sure I would be able to enjoy it, thinking about the history of the car and its previous owner....

John, I'm still all over the map, have been thinking 4 door Wrangler, Infinity G-37, you name it. Actually don't "need" a car...so just hanging out, waiting to see if anything turns me on. If not, guess there's no crime in having cash...

One thing I'm sure of...no more cars that require going to Portland for mechanical work. Traffic up there is a nightmare.
