Fantastic independent Mercedes-Benz shop in Dallas:

I just have to share my experience with an independent MB shop and its owner in Dallas, Texas. I have a 1991 420 SEL that had a bad engine and was sitting for a couple years so I went on the Pelican equivelent for MB which is Mercedesshop.com/ for tech info and advice. It's a great web site w/ separate forums for the different types of cars.

Anyhow..., long story short I put a used engine from a crashed car in my 420 and found the John Walker of that board w/ his phone# posted in his signature line. The owner of the shop is named David Poole, Englishman living in U.S. who knows MBs backwards and forwards and helped me enormously for basically no reward. For that reason I wanted to inform any Pelicans in the Dallas area who might own out-of-warrantee Benzes about this guy and his shop. I know a little about these cars and I can tell you categorically that he knows them inside-out and is a good man. He embodies the spirit found here in terms of helping DIYers and is one of the Warren/JWs of the Mercedes forums.
