Xbox 360 & vista media streaming.

When i got the xbox i read how easy it would be to stream media form my p.c. Finally got around to it tonight and it has been total HE!!. The computer is connected to a wireless network already so i just hooked the xbox up with a cat 5 cable and it seemed to be working all right at first. the problem is that it loses the connection constantly and when i go to the music tab on the xbox it says it cannot find the connection. Can any one help me or is this just some more Vista b.s. i have the comp for a year now and am about ready to pitch it b/c vista has caused grief everyday for quite a while now. I am seriously researching Linux but i fear this would only worsen the aforementioned problems.

Notice those last two tabs... Oh yeah I'm looking into Leopard as well but don't have the available funds at the moment.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1205473450.jpg

That has nothing to do with Vista but with your wireless.. I have the same problem every time the microwave oven is on or if someone picks up a call using the 5.8Ghz wireless phones... It's too sensitive, even my neighbors microwave oven seem to affect the connections..
I just ditched the wireless and use CAT5 in the house, since then not a single problem.

My wireless isnt sensitive to microwaves or phones... I should have clarified that the xbox is hooked up using Cat 5 but the computer it is hooked to is on the network. And i know its not my neighbor as i live in the country and the nearest house a quarter mile away.

I would test it by hooking up the computer to the network with a cat5. The best way to diagnose a problem is to systematically try to rule out alternatives.

My dad has a cat 5 cable that is long enough that i can have so i think i will try hooking the xbox directly to the router.
but for now back to motogp07. then maybe forza.
