Obtaining old copies of phone records?

Anyone had to do this?

Its for a Phone number for my business from March of 2006 and I do not have the number anymore.

I have had to move around a bit after the hurricanes and the main number changed a bunch but I always used my original phone number forwarded to it.

I need one of the numbers I had in March 06 and the phone company (Bellsouth / AT&T) is really giving me the run around.

Any suggestions?

BTW - I do not get paper bills, I autopay my bill off my company checking account and my accountant is happy from a tax return standpoint just showing on my bank statement the wire transfer to the phone company.

Before I retired, I had to obtain old phone records as part of my job at times. Standard line from the phone companies was that they were only able to go back one year. Sometimes, a large employer would be able to get records off their phone system. Was always easier to get long distance records than records of local calls.

I'm sure this policy varies with each phone company. It's time and money for them to do it. They would rather give yo the run-around that offer assistance.

I have mastered the art of cutting through the BS red tape / "policies" when dealing with "customer services". It took along time to obtain this skill but it comes in handy.

1) don't take no for an answer
2) get the names of each person you talk to
3) ask to go to the next level if the person says it is not procedure and they can't help you
4) be blunt and stern and assert yourself.

Continue steps 1 - 4 until you get the result you need.

I swear customer service is not there to serve you but to be more of a complaint/ issue check valve.

"I'm sorry, it is not our policy to do this blah blah blah"
