As a point of history, I think they were trying to prohibit drawing and quartering with this amendment.

When they capture them, Dad calls the State Police & tells them blatantly, "If ya' bring him back. I'm killing him." On the 5 o'clock news he is being walked up the concourse at Moisant. The camera zooms out & to the right is a guy on a pay phone. He gives a look up the concourse, hangs up the phone, turns towards the camera, but keeps on turning as he's pulling out his pistol and shoots the guy in the side of the head from about a foot away, live on the 5 o'clock news! Guy dies. Dad doesn't do a day.

This happened shortly after that so it was covered BIG. My story is to the best of my recollection. By the way, I don't think they even had laser sights back then.

I remember that one well. The kidnapper had even dyed the kid's hair to evade all the missing photos and posters looking for the kid. The father was wearing a baseball hat and dark sunglasses, as I think the police were on the lookout for him at the airport. Yup, he popped the kidnapper in the temple and turned him off like a light switch. IIRC, the father was convicted, but got something like 12 yrs. probation and didn't serve a day.

Me, around 16-17. Got home, forgot keys, way more buzzed than I thought I was so natch thought I was being quiet while I jimmied the basement washroom window and crawled in.

Crawling across washer thinking I'm home free when light flips on and stepdad has 12 gauge pointed a foot or so from my head.

I'm glad he had patience.

You sort of had the info wrong about the 80 year old grandmother, true, they didn't charge her, BECAUSE SHE WAS SHOT DEAD, when she fired on them. They were also at the wrong address. Some that were involved have or are being charged with her death.

I think there have been a few stories of 80 year old grandmothers returning fire during no knock searches. The one I was thinking of was a few years ago in Atlanta. I was thinking she killed a cop but was not shot herself and wasn't charged but they were there because a grandson supposedly had some drugs and sometimes stayed there. I admit my memory is fuzzy on the story, though.

Harder & harder to keep the war on drugs from looking like war on the populace. i always liked those DARE programs where they try to get kids to rat out parents for smoking an occasional joint.
