Seriously, how do they manage to do this?

So twice in two days, there have been odd car accidents within view of my apartment. Now accidents around here aren't uncommon, its a busy, built up area, but its the trying to understand how they happen that has me going...

1) Last night, walking home, I past an accident at a neighbouring apartment. Somehow a Nissan Altima managed to pull off the road into the building driveway - where within 10' of the road you need to stop at a security gate - and slam into a chrysler 300M so hard as to put the Chrysler onto the roof of the Nissan.

How? How could the Nissan make the 90 degree bend off the road, and within 10' slam into the Chrysler so hard the Chrysler travelled over the hood and onto the roof of the Nissan?

2) Perhaps less odd, but this morning, a guy managed to roll his Chevy SUV perpendicular in the middle of the street in front of my apartment. Now I realize that SUV's are susceptible to rolling, and likely someone him off, causing him to swerve and therefore roll, but its a short stretch of road where cars generally travel at about 40 km/hr max. Can you really roll an SUV that easily?

In both accidents ambulances were required, so I hope those involved are ok, but how the heck do people manage these things?

That's okay.

Yesterday I got an e-mail from a friend in Indianapolis. His wife, while on the way to work, saw a car drive into the pond in front of her office building. Police are called. Fire department shows up with rescue divers.

They pull FOUR cars out of the pond before finding the one that drove in that day...

Oh, and apparently the FD left at least two cars in the water because at that point they had already found the car that they were looking for...

That happened in Schaumburg a while ago--they found a whole bunch of cars in a lake off of 53--had to do with insurance money or something...

Haha, yeah, that makes some sense. I'm getting annoyed at the number of oblivious drivers yacking on their cellphone. It does seem to be the equivalent of driving drunk, based on the driving I've seen.

Still amazed that the Nissan could carry enough speed to launch a 300M straight up onto the roof.

I saw a "news" show once about the town in the US with the highest car theft rate. It's some little town. Apparently, theft and insurance fraud is huge. I think I remember them saying that the pull several cars out of a lake every month.

There are alot more people driving without driver's licenses today, and most without any sort of formal training.
It is no surprise to me that they can't control a vehicle or use any form of judgement or common sense while attempting to do so.
