Valencia GP ***Spoiler***

Well. Congrats to Massa on a good race but where's the penalty? Very interesting that they delayed it. And the other incident with Kimi. Looks like he jumped the Go signal.

Except for that, it was a sleeper race.

Kimi: disappointing. And I'm not even talking about the engine blowup. Hope his mechanic's OK.

Nice win for Massa. I suppose when you're the winner, it's nice to have a yawner. The track looks beautiful, but oddly vacant--like it's built in an industrial park or something. Certainly not the character of Monaco (though nowhere is), Long Beach, or even a Surfer's Paradise.

I don't know if it's an effect of the wife being out of town for three weeks or not, but are the women in the stands at Valencia more gorgeous than at any other circuit? Yowsa.

No. That's Spanish women. On past travels to the north & the south of Spain I can only agree with your "Yowsa". It's my favorite country to visit for more reasons then just the geography.

I agree with your comments about the environs. Very sterile.

My personal favorite town in Spain (for women) so far has been Sevilla. I think fully half the women there were hot.

It was baking when we were in Sevilla so only the tourists seemed to be out. Except for the pushing match I had with a crowd of Spanish 'matronly types' at the entrance to the Alcazar.

Oh . . . and it looks like a $10K fine for Ferrari for the Massa pit lane incident. The other teams won't be happy.

Ferrari seems to be having reliability problems.

And if Hamilton nearly hit someone in the pits, it probably would have been a stop-and-go.

Nice city, but the track was pretty sterile.

Reminded me of Long Beach (run down, and tons of cranes in the background) -Yes I know LB has improved a lot of over the years. I went to visit a friend in a condo two blocks north of Ocean, and it was still a crappy neighborhood -felt like skid row.

Dull race overall....... Neighbor is going to Spa in a week... His first GP.

Massa should have been DQ'd for that! How dare he be released next to another car. That NEVER happens in F1, EVER!

Quote:
Massa, though, backed off rather than risk a second losing the race win for the second successive race weekend, and later blamed Sutil for the incident.

According to the Brazilian, the Force India driver should not have been fighting with him for track position as he was a lap down.

"It was a little bit of a shame to fight with him in the pit lane because he would have had to have let me pass," he said.

"We came so close to the wall and I had to back off which cost me a bit of time. Fortunately the gap was enough (to go on and win the race)."

Asked for more details about the pit stop the Brazilian said: "I stopped behind him on the pit stop but we left together. We were side by side and it was quite narrow so I backed off, I didn't want to take a risk."
Then 5 seconds later Sutil got a blue flag and had to move over. At least Massa was smart enough to back off and not wreck. Was it worthy of a 10K fine? I guess I'll keep my eyes open for the rest of the season and see how many other times this happens with other teams. It seems to me this is not a rare occurrence, but maybe I am wrong.

Massa decimated the competition this weekend, even LH admitted it!
The penalty will be monetary and not position related…

Funny how when the season started with bad luck on Massa (namely the car and not the driver) and paddock talk saying he may be ousted in 09 in favor of Fred?

A lot of the Ferrari loyal at Fchat Racing Forum have had to eat their words lately. A long running thread . . .

Got a working link to this thread???
I think Ferrari should kiss Felipe's ass and ask the Iceman to step it up just a bit
