I would have went and sat in the stewardess's jump seat and read the paper. I've done it while waiting for the crapper. She was pretty pissed.

I should sue Wayne too. And you. And you. and *you* |
The guy was probably just trying to get back at a Pelicanite as payback for years of abuse and being pushed down the stairs by tabs.

Carbon copy your local elected representatives and the FAA. Advise them that you did not like being threatened by the flight attendent and pilot, when your assigned seat was given away to someone else and they refused to assist you. |
While you're at it, I recommend you take some leave from work and see a therapist about this huge injustice that has been done to you. How dare they not let you sit in the seat printed on your ticket? Don't they understand how damaging that kind of behavior is? What if the plane crashed, and your grieving family was asked to identify the body, and they were forced to view the remains of some poor retard whom the flight attendants declared must sit in seat 7A, instead of Craig?
;) Just kidding, man. Rude people suck, and it only sucks more that you're letting it ruin the rest of your day. Stop the insanity and forget about it. |
I've been trying all day to type in green and just can't seem to do it. It's really pissing me off. Next retard I see is going down the stairs.

I was on an American flight from LAX to JFK last week and I think my grandmother was one of the flight attendants, they were all real old and pretty mean looking.
I just couldn't resist! Click on the big "A" on the legend area, then you can change font color. |

They'll soon have to make the aisles bigger to accomodate them (and shrink the slum seating even more).

Next time this happens, just ask for the other guys's seat number so you know where to go. If, when you get there, the seat is not comparable to what you paid for (for example, it's a middle seat and you bought a window or an aisle seat), then turn around, go back up the jet bridge to the gate, explain the snafu and tell them you want a new seat that's comparable to the one you had taken away from you. If they tell you you can't, the tell them you want a comparable seat from a lower fare passenger, even if it means they have to pull that other person out of their seat. You have to be firm with them. If they still refuse, politely ask them for their name and employee number and explain that you'll be writing the company about this issue and will be naming names. That's about all you can really do.
If you do get a little beligerant with the cabin crew (to the point where they feel you might be a problem), they will call the captain to speak with you. Are you sure you didn't let your frustration manifest itself a little to the FA? |
yes, I forgot about that, every time they walk the aisle you get bumped.

Your argument is definitely valid, 450, if they toss him in the non-reclining back seat, right next to the poop disposer. |
I think on AirTran you have to pay to have a choice of seats, otherwise, they seat you where they want. $6 for some seats more I think for emergency row aisle. Crazy business and going downhill. Used to say it (commercial air travel) was like riding the bus, well for some trips the bus would be an upgrade.

Sorry to hear about your experience.
I've flown 5 round trips with them in the last two months and their $50 upgrade to first class is great. I also got one of there credit cards that came with 20,000 miles into my mileage program (enough for a free trip) and a $50 companion coupon once a year. You put $50 on the card and pay it off then throw it in a drawer. My wife is coming along next trip to Vancouver. Not to make excuses for them, but flying for the crews sucks almost as much as for the passengers. They turn those planes around so fast the crew really don't get much of a detox time. They probably had a special needs person dumped in their lap right before boarding and obviously didn't handle it very well. He!! I consider any flight that gets me and my luggage there in one piece and at the same time a success. I would write the airlines, you will probably get a free trip out of it if you are in their frequent flyer program along with an apology. Steve |
Here is how you get them to give your original seat.
You tell them that the passenger manifest will indicate that you are suppose to be the person occupying that seat and that in the case of a crash they will use the passenger manifest and seating position to help identify the bodies...and that you want to be the guy in that seat...not somebody else. They should react after you say that. I use to work at an airline and was assigned to help with a crash and we use the passenger manifest to guess who was who. Very ugly stuff. |
I imagine using the word "crash" in your discussion would probably earn you a boot off the flight and/or a cavity search.

I understand your feelings. This may not help after the fact, but if you want to advise others who fly regularly post your comment on www.FlyerTalk.com on the Alaska Airlines section.
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=442 Each airline has a rep monitoring. This is much faster and more direct than a written communication to Alaska and have a 6 month wait/if ever for a response. John_AZ |

You should have found the next closest window seat and started drooling. Then I wouldn't be reading this thread! HaHaHaHa....... :) :)

Geez, Scott. I fly 50-70 times a year and I've yet to pay extra for a window AFAIK. I select price, then select a seat.
I do get the thing about "economy" and "economy plus" and all that; different fare types in the same cabin. |
