On the dry lake bed near Barstow Ca. about 1980. The lake bed is in an area where they once mined for talcum. Once you made a few passes and broke through the crust of the bed you hit hit talcum dust. The dust is so fine it filters right through your shirt and pants and leaves a screen print like image on your body. This rig was clocked at over 70 MPH by a previuos owner. I never had it that fast or wanted to. They are very hard to control at speeds over 45 or 50. This rig was a little to large for your local parking lot sailing so you needed to go someplace large like a dry lake bed of which we have no shortage in So. Cal. It was great fun going downwind but a bear if you didn't know how to tack back. After pushing the rig back a few miles a couple of times I got the hang of tacking. I sold it after a few years, got tired of the 2 hour drive to get somewhere to use it.
