North Carolina Pelicans
Guys,
It appears that we will be moving to the Winston-Salem area in the next few months and I have some questions. First, we have an 1982 Mercedes turbo diesel that I have brought back from the dead over the last year, does it have to get smogged? A safety inspection is no problem as it will pass but I don't know about emissions. Anyone who live in Winston-Salem pm or email me as I have some specific questions about different neighborhoods we have looked into. We would like to stay with in 10-15 minutes of Baptist Medical Center as we will both be working a lot of hours. Hopefully we can find a good deal on a house so I can continue my quest for the next 911. I really miss having the Porsche to drive but I know it was the right decision to make, plus I have always wanted a 993 wide body which will be the next one.

Hi Dan, I've been working in W-S for the past 18 years, so I know a bit about the area even though I don't live there. No worries about the '82, it's exempt. I'll be glad to help you out if I can...

Dan Keith is correct it is exempt. There is a state law about smoke from the tail pipe, the car can not smoke for more than 4 seconds while driving.

I just moved to W-S in december so I might have some knowledge for you and should be able to point you in the right direction. Also I have a few friends who work at baptist/WF as well if you need help there

Thanks guys,
I am not worried about the smoke from the tail pipe law as the Mercedes only smokes a little on cold start up but once it is warmed up it isn't an issue. TIm, I will email you shortly and everyone thanks again. It is going to be nice to get settled and really start our lives together away from our family.
