What part of the day do you look forward to the most?

For me it is the mornings. My lovely little three year old Hannah is very well trained. She still sleeps in my bed and she usually wakes up before me, but for some reason she does not wake me up. How is that for good upbringing!

Now, the best moment of the day is when I first notice I am awake - still eyes shut. I can hear her beside me, moving around a bit and I know she is awake, waiting for me to wake up. She doesn´t say anything, does not try to wake me up. Sometimes I peek at her when she is looking the other way, playing with her dolls or just sitting there looking out the window. Serenity in her lovely face.

Here comes the best part of my day. When I eventually open my eyes and look at her. When she sees I am awake I get the greatest smile in the world and she is all over me hugging me. All sunshine.

That is how I know I will get threw yet another day.

What about you?

Forgive me, Markus. But please tell me Hannah is your daughter or a pet and NOT one of your patients.

Sorry, if that was confusing. Erh..I am talking about my daughter.

Still, thats not a bad idea. Some of my patients are almost 18 years old.. :D

Whew!!!! Are you a single dad?

livi 03-27-2008 02:36 PM

Thats complicated. A lot of children - a lot of mothers. But who´s complaining.

I have an almost identical story. My daughter is 3.5. She stands silently by my side of the bed every morning and waits for me to open my eyes, then smiles. I'm usually awake or awoken by her footsteps, but I always pretend to be asleep so she can wake me up. She acts as though she hasn't seen me in days.

It's also very bittersweet because everytime I'm immedately struck by how it's just a brief moment in time that I know she'll grow out of and one that I'll dearly miss when it's gone.
