The Ultimate DOG Thread
We have "Utlimate" threads for almost everything else and I can literally think of no other subject beyond pets where we all get along. Besides, its hard to divide up dogs into Democrat and Republican breeds (except for Poodles and Pomeranians, of course:D) I'm kidding, I'm kidding!!!
Okay, Here's my Poochie Boys. "Sooner" the now 4-1/2 year old, 102 lb (but not much fat, just huge for his breed) blonde Labrador Retriever and my departed but never to be forgotten lifetime best friend, Dudley. He was 14 years old when I had to let him go last August. I confess I cried like a baby. Dudley was half black Labrador and half Dalmation. A truer friend there never was. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207181839.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207181865.jpg |

I'm In
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207182945.jpg As a old guy (14 Years) had to put him down couple years ago. Still bums me out! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207183110.jpg |
This is the last picture I took of our Great Dane, Bismarck. We had to put him down about a week later due to a degenerative spinal cord condition he had which was making it impossible for him to walk, navigate stairs, or even stand on his own. He was about 10 years old.
We got him from the local Great Dane rescue about 8 years ago. His prior owner abused him and abandoned him in the back yard of a house and moved. He was found starving (about 60 pounds under weight) and with lots of body sores due to being chained on concrete. We got him and brought him back to health, and he turned out to be a fantastic pet. He was smart and very protective of the family. I really couldn't have asked for more in a dog. He's missed greatly. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207183481.jpg |

No pics of my dogs in digital format. I'll dig some up and scan soon. In the mean time, place holder.
While growing up, I had the pleasure of sharing my space with three Great Danes. The first one was a male, Razzy aka Razamataz Von Resaec (fawn), from champion parents and even though he was in the house first, when I came along, he would watch over me and keep me safe. There are a couple of pics with me on his back. Second was a female, Missy (black) that was caught in the middle of a feud between the lady that "cut" the ears and the breeders. Our dog ended up with ears that would never stand up. Great dog! Third was a again a male, Odie aka White Shadow Odyssey (harlequin), but the spots were not right and looked like a Holstein cow (think dairy). I was a teen with him and we had brotherly fights. He'd win every time. Like Ronbo, he had to be put down due to the same condition. Dave |

Years ago had a Alaskan Malamute. Loved that pup but he tangled with a Caddy and the caddy won.
As a pup... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207197059.jpg Sitting next to my XJ. Yes he has gotten bigger, a lot bigger. Still have this car. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207197118.jpg No pups now, need an acre or so IMHO to have a pup so waiting until I retire to get another one. |
