Bahrain in a few hours!

Will BMW take a sensational victory?
Will Kovalainen beat Beauty Boy?
Will it be a Finnish 1-2?
Will Burt Campbell do Jessica Tate?
Will Jodie Dallas turn out to be straight?

mattdavis11 04-06-2008 01:09 AM

should not have, therefore didn't. My apologies.

Dutchie 04-06-2008 01:15 AM

I think Massa will win this one but i would love to see Kubica win :) great guy and racer !

Dueller 04-06-2008 01:35 AM

WooooHoooo...an hour and a half.

In case you're wondering, I'm up at 4:30 a.m. because its prom night and I'm waiting for the Missus to return from the sheriff's office. No injuries or DUIU's but twins that are in trouble when they get home if I have a say so. But probably not since my wife and I were in an argument about tonite's prom plans before we received the call. And my predictions, alas, turned out to be correct.

Oh well...who qualified on the pole?

Kubica is on the pole.

If the girls are not home, and its 04:30, and the wife is at the Sheriff's office, then it sure sounds like they did something wrong. Time for a long talk and grounding it sounds...

Yup...an after prom breakfast supposedly for 8 kids at one of the kid's parents' home. Police were called because of a noise problem. Arrested 20 kids for MIP (minor in possession). Parents were found hiding in the attic...they've been charged with 20 counts of contributing to delinquency. One stepdtr got a MIP; the other one took off into the woods and called mom to pick her up. Tough on how to deal with that.

My wife and I had an argument earlier because the "breakfast" as described by the parents to my wife didn't pass the smell test to me.

Thank god no parents had to be summonsed to the morgue.

Good luck with that...sometimes being a parent must absolutely suck (I'm not one, so can't really relate).

imcarthur 04-06-2008 05:50 AM

Good luck Dueller. But remember - kids will be kids & we ALL did it too.

A good race, btw but I won't spoil it.

berettafan 04-06-2008 05:54 AM

Damn trashy parents. I'm not there yet (as has been pointed out in the past by 'the') but I surely hope my son's friends parents are not the type to try to be 'cool' and allow underage drinking in their home. Shameful and juvenile IMO.

Good luck D!

KFC911 04-06-2008 07:55 AM

Those type of parties (i.e. parent's supplying booze, "looking the other way", etc.) were not unusual at all when I was in hs, and it was typically the respectable "country club set" (i.e. relatively well off) houses where they typically occurred. I doubt things have changed that much even though it's been a long time. Most of the other parents were either naive (as were mine), gullible, or implicitly condoned it, but most had NO CLUE as to what was really going down. I think Dueller does...

Dueller,

Since you post the glamour shots of your twins, how about the mugshot? ;)

Typical teen stuff...

livi 04-06-2008 09:55 AM

Boy, that was a boring race.

Maybe we can get the whole story on Dr. Phil one of these days???

Re: Alonso / Hamilton
I wonder if Fernando didn't lift just a bit!
Any way it was a good start for Massa that sealed the fate.
Kubica needs to pay attention to the lights, first time jitters a guess.

I wondered the same think, man, Hammy really nailed him.

Great race, lots of good battles, the 2 red cars trading fast laps/segments was exciting. I really wanted Kimi to win but Massa needed to redeem himself so this was good too.

BMW is really looking good. I was excited for them as well. I think we might see them take some podiums soon.

Here's my Bahrain story:

I flew into Bahrain in September 2006, and we had to stay for two days. I'm not going to repeat the name of the hotel, but it was a name-brand based in the United States and it was right down town. Well, there had been some "rumors" about this hotel, but I hadn't heard them apparently.

-My First Officer entered his room, and after he changed out of his uniform and into regular clothes, he took a towel from the bathroom and covered the television with it. Then he pulled out his laptop, and proceded to go online.

The phone rings, an Indian voice: "Sir, we are wanting to know are you having trouble with your television?"

"No, why do you ask?"

"thank you sir, that will be all."

He returns to his laptop. A minute later, the phone rings:

"Sir, we are having to ask to you to not set anything on the television set in your room"

"I don't have anything on the television. I haven't even turned it on!" he said.

"Yes sir. We are having to ask you to not to set anything onto the television set in the rooms please".

"I told you I haven't set anything on the television. And I am coming down into the lobby now to discuss this with your manager ::click::.

Apparently, many of the hotels in Bahrain install televisions with video camera's hidden in an attempt to prevent sexual activity that the ruling Al-Khalifa family doesn't like. This was originally posted on my union's website, and when it it became common knowledge among the pilot group, it was noticed that this same thing happened at all three of the hotels we stayed at in this country!

That's not some pervert at one hotel getting his jollies watching us lonely pilots masturbating; that is plain and simple government surveilance. After all this went down, we tried this at hotels in Qatar, Kuwait, and Dubai, and nothing of the sort ever happened.

I hope the racers cover their TV's!

N!

I was VERY disappointed in Lewis.

Pat Symonds released the telemetry showing FA did nothing different, and Hamilton himself called it a "racing incident", which translated from Wokingese is " I drove into the back of him on my own".

Tim

MFAFF 04-06-2008 10:07 PM

The telemetry should clear up any doubt.. but whilst watching the race there was doubt.. until the replay...Hammy was faster and he should have been further off to the right.. he had the speed for a clean overtake and was too close...

A bit of the same red mist we saw in Brazil last year?

Interesting BMW performance tho'...I would nto be surprise if either one got to the top step... Kubica may have had first time nerves on pole but Hammy's start was a real poor show...

Jims5543 04-08-2008 04:46 PM

Here is some interesting info:

According to Axis of oversteer, check out this gif earlier in the race before Hammy took off in the air:

It seems he rear ended Alonso twice not once. The first did damage his wing the second finished it off.

Dutchie 04-09-2008 04:35 AM

Hamilton was trying to make up i think  he messed up his start big time no technical problem just no concentration if you ask me. Too bad but with mistakes like that he will never be a champion.

David 04-09-2008 05:19 AM

Normy, it sounds like your story needs a tread all it's own :o
