Anybody else creeped out by Google Street View?

I'm all for technology, etc., but they're going a little far. Go to Google Maps and run your own address. See if you can remember when the van drove by.

stomachmonkey 04-07-2008 03:40 PM

Yes a bit creepy.

When they go "real time" is when I go off the grid.

Buckterrier 04-07-2008 03:43 PM

Yikes, I haven't seen that yet.

Porsche-O-Phile 04-07-2008 03:46 PM

It is fantastic for giving yourself a "user's perspective" of what you'll see when you're going to an unfamiliar place though.

I say we start a national initiative to find the Google vans when they're out doing their thing. . .

and chuck 'em a moon.

Holy sh! I left my garage open!?

We used Google Earth when we wanted to figure out how to get around in Paris, its an amazing tool - it shows you exactly where the restaurants and stores are...

Nathans_Dad 04-07-2008 04:03 PM

That is pretty amazing...looks to be at least 4-6 months old though, I have relandscaped my whole yard this spring and the grass is still green in the photo...

My house looks COMPLETELY different now!! MUHUHAHAHAHAHA!!

I'm officially CREEPED OUT!

ZOA NOM 04-07-2008 04:11 PM

I definitely use it for going to an unfamiliar place of business, but I'm not sure I like the neighborhood view.

A whole website dedicated to this.

somewhere in LA, at this very moment, the third version of a bad screenplay is being written based on google street view. the only thing we know for sure about it is a girl's breasts will be bare, and then she will be killed.

My house isn't on a blue lines road thankfully, but I checked on my brother-in-laws house and saw my neice in the driveway and her friend on a bike in the street. Another address showd a friends 914 behind his garage. This is not a good tool!

LOL! No Google Street View where I live. The satellite image is more than three+ years old, as my building still shows up as a parking lot. I guess the street view is limited to the three-letter agencies for now.

Buckterrier 04-07-2008 04:44 PM

Uhhhhh... I'm to far in the wilds of Ct. for them to have found me.

Gogar 04-07-2008 04:55 PM

Somebody's walking up my front step! And my truck's not home! Should I call the cops?

yes officially creeped out -

vash 04-07-2008 05:29 PM

that is bad ass!

my stalkee's house looks completely different, than through my telescope!

450knotOffice 04-07-2008 05:29 PM

Not creeped out. My house, and all of yours, are out on public streets for all to see. If somebody wants to find your house, they'll find it whether there is a pic or not.

Real-time pics would wierd me out, but not old archived photos.

ZOA NOM 04-07-2008 05:35 PM

I guess you're right, and it's like your license plate. I still don't like it, tho.

Looks like I forgot to put away the trailer.

This is my car at work!

My neighborhood isn't mapped street level. Everything around us, is! I expect the gated community kept them out.

strupgolf 04-07-2008 06:03 PM

I cant bring up a picture of my house. I zoomed in the the max, clicked on the little thing, and nothing. What am I doing wrong?
